On the ground experience advocating for our communities
Affordable Housing
Safer Communities
Women's Rights
A Sustainable Future
I have consistently demonstrated my passion for creating positive change at the grassroots level.
My mission began with volunteering at a local health care organization supporting assault victims. I then expanded to advocate for early childhood education, food security, and housing the homeless.
I have dedicated my life to serving the community. I have been a driving force to positive change. With a proven track record of commitment and dedication to the community, I look to continue my mission in the House of Representatives to champion women’s rights, affordable housing, public safety, and investment in education and childcare.
In the House of Representatives, I plan to build on this mission by advocating for policies that support:
‣ Investments in education
‣ Access to affordable housing
‣ Safer communities,and
‣ Sustainability against climate change
Loretta studied at the University of Minnesota and is working towards her bachelor's degree in political science. Loretta's background includes 30 years in the nonprofit sector assisting youth, single adults and families with the emphasis on preventing homelessness.
Loretta intends to use her political science degree to create and implement policies around the prevention of homelessness.
My name is Loretta Arradondo, and I seek your endorsement as the DFL candidate for our State House District, LD51A. I grew up in South Minneapolis, and now live in Richfield. I am the mother of three amazing adult children and a grandmother of eight. I have a long history of community service, which began 1994, when I volunteered for the Neighborhood Involvement Program (NIP), a healthcare organization and clinic that served the uninsured and underinsured. As a Rape and Sexual Assault volunteer at NIP, I supported resilient people who fought to restore life normalcy after experiencing traumatic assault.
From that point forward, I always have worked to restore hope and dignity to individuals at their most vulnerable stages in their lives. Most of my professional career has been in housing, when in 2005, I began working at St. Anne’s Shelter. Over the years, I partnered with the Hennepin County shelter team to place three hundred families, youth, and adults in stable housing throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs. I negotiated with landlords coping with challenging tenants, to find alternatives to eviction. I collaborated with Attorney General Keith Ellison to hold property owners accountable for maintaining habitable properties for Minnesota residents.
I worked with State Representative Esther Agbaje, (who represents portions of downtown and North Minneapolis) to create workshops that help community members apply for assistance to pay rent and utilities. In my spare time, I served as a PEACE Commissioner for Golden Valley, focusing on employment, accountability, and community engagement with local police.
No matter where I have lived or what I have done, I always have built productive relationships dedicated to serving communities that often go unnoticed and unheard. I commit to bringing the same dedication and tenacity that yielded so many positive outcomes to my role as a lawmaker in the Minnesota State House. As your Representative, I will dedicate myself to policies that invest in K-12 education, create greater access to affordable housing, improve public safety, secure women’s reproductive rights, and find sustainable pathways to combat climate change.
I believe my dedication and passion to providing safe communities, investment in education, and housing access makes me the perfect DFL candidate for House District 51A, covering northern Richfield and a small portion of South Minneapolis. I humbly request your endorsement at our DFL Senate District convention on April 13. Together we can create a bright future for all.
Respectfully,
